Impact Assessment

Environmental Assessment uses a number of methods to estimate the impact in different categories. These can then be weighted and compared in an attempt to assess the relative overall impact of project variants.

Some of the environmental assessments methods commonly used in Europe are:

CEDcumulative energy demandMJ-eqlife cycle total energy use
EFecological footprintm2-yrlife cycle area use
CEENEcumulative exergy extraction in the natural environmentMJex-eqlife cycle total exergy use
